Camp Counselor
Lancaster Friends School seeks enthusiastic and caring Summer Camp Counselors to support a joyful, inclusive, and enriching camp experience for children in preK through 8th grade. Ideal candidates will have experience working with children and an understanding of their cognitive, emotional, and social development. Summer Camp Counselors will lead and assist in daily camp activities including outdoor play, arts and crafts, games, field trips, and thematic project-based learning—grounded in the school’s commitment to Quaker values.

Responsibilities:
Supervise and ensure the safety and well-being of children throughout the camp day
Plan and lead engaging and age-appropriate activities that promote creativity, collaboration, and active play
Support children’s social-emotional development and help resolve conflicts using restorative practices strategies
Work closely with fellow counselors and camp leadership to maintain a cohesive, fun, and inclusive camp culture
Model and promote Quaker values, including respect, community, and peaceful conflict resolution
Communicate effectively with children, colleagues, and families
Participate in training and orientation sessions prior to the start of camp
Qualifications:
Experience working with children ages 3–13 in a camp, classroom, or similar setting
High school diploma required; college coursework or degree in education or related field preferred
Passion for working with children and creating a positive, engaging environment
Familiarity with child development, social-emotional learning, and inclusive practices
Ability to collaborate with a team and adapt to changing situations with flexibility and positivity
Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects of camp life
A strong alignment with the mission and values of Lancaster Friends School

Dates:
Camp runs from mid-June through mid-August. Counselors must be available for staff training days prior to camp and for the full duration of the program.

Early Education Teacher - Long-term Substitute
Lancaster Friends School seeks a dedicated, passionate, and dynamic early childhood educator for a multiage classroom who is excited to be part of a new school for a temporary position, from late August 2026 through December 2026. Major responsibilities include planning and implementing a creative, constructivist classroom program with daily lessons in literacy and mathematics; teaching anti-racism and integrating social justice into the curriculum; establishing a classroom culture that supports children socially, emotionally, and academically; creating an inclusive and culturally responsive classroom environment; working collaboratively and cooperatively with families, faculty, and staff; and partnering with other teachers and specialists to implement best practices.
Strong candidates will have:
A minimum of 3 years of experience working with children in preschool (ages 3-5), preferably in multi age settings
A passion for social justice
Experience or training in teaching to neurodiverse students
Facility with a broad range of pedagogical practices and programs (including reading comprehension, writing, spelling, number sense, problem-solving, conflict resolution, emotional regulation, community building, etc.)
An interest in and capability to work, plan, and implement cross-curricular, project-based learning opportunities
A broad repertoire of strategies to teach children with diverse learning styles
Excellent organizational skills
Excitement about working closely and collaboratively with other educators
Experience teaching in a religiously and culturally diverse setting
A high level of interest in Quaker education

Music Teacher - Part Time
Lancaster Friends School seeks a creative, passionate, and dynamic part time Music Teacher to develop and lead a vibrant music program for students in PreK through 9th grade. The Music Teacher will design and implement engaging music instruction that introduces students to fundamental musical skills, appreciation of diverse musical traditions, and opportunities for performance and creative expression. Subsitute Teachers
Lancaster Friends School seeks experienced substitute teachers for preK through 8th grade. Qualified candidates should have an understanding of the cognitive and social-emotional development of elementary school children and be well-versed in interdisciplinary curriculum, project work, and anti-bias curriculum.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree required
1-3 years of classroom teaching experience, preferably in an independent school setting
Demonstrated passion and joy for working with students in grades K-8
Knowledge of child development and a commitment to social-emotional learning, differentiated instruction, and inquiry and project-based teaching
Strong verbal and written interpersonal communication skills
A demonstrated commitment to enhancing an inclusive school community based on cultural competence, commitment to social justice, and respect for all voices;
